Recently, I had a major epiphany (ik ik i have way too many of those, but hear me out pls), that in order for my life to feel purposeful & worth it, I just gotta be obsessed with something each week, be it learning a new skill, being hyper-focused on a topic and learning all about it from various sources, making observations from my surroundings regarding a particular matter or hypothesis, watching documentaries and video essays about something that I wanna learn more about, capturing my thoughts like a Victorian era poet in my pocket-sized commonplace notebook.
Basically giving a theme to each week, one week you can be a beginner pastry-chef in Paris trying to bake croissants & cookies, and another week you can be a Harvard student trying to decode the concepts of Environmental Economics. Giving themes to each week is kinda like a more romanticised and fancy way of phrasing ‘the weekly agendas’, but I think its more than that, because here you’re not just learning or getting a task done that you willingly chose, but also embodying the identity of a person who does that for fun or for a living. I know its easier said than done & even I am just trying to experiment with things and themes, but hey that’s what starting something new looks like, you gotta figure out things as you go. I think this is a good way to add some whimsy into our modern lives as well.
This week’s theme for me is “unrotting my brain” by trying to be a comfort youtuber. I am learning about all the angles that I can record for my vlogs & getting more used to talking about my experiences with studying, habits and life in general on camera, along with being off my phone as much as possible. And I think its been going pretty good so far, my major learning as of now has been that I don’t need to be obsessed with making everything perfect and aesthetically pleasing for the camera, some things are just meant to be raw and real, very human.
Social media makes us feel as if everyone has the most picture-perfect life ever, but its all just the highlights of people’s lives, that one influencer you think is enjoying her night at an Italian bistro? She prolly had to get all her tasks for the day done & dusted by 4pm. In hindsight, what matters the most is how YOU felt spending your time, how your experiences enriched your life & what all skills & knowledge you wanna pass on to your future generations. So please take this as a sign to give themes to your weeks, I have attached a few ideas below that you can try out.
Weekly Theme Ideas:
Pastrycore Parisian – Bake something daily, wear your cutest apron, listen to French café jazz. Romanticize every crumb.
Harvard Hot Girl/Boy – Pick a niche subject. Go full nerd. Study like you're at Harvard but hotter. Take notes that belong in a museum.
Comfort YouTuber Era – Vlog your life, try cozy camera angles, overshare softly. Raw, real, and a little unhinged.
Main Character at Dusk – Go on moody solo walks, read sad poems, make an existential playlist. Feel everything, say nothing.
Letters to Future Me – Write one letter a day to your future self. Be honest, dramatic, and wise beyond your years.
Digital Detox – Log off everything. Read books. Stare at clouds. Observe your thoughts like they’re gossip.
Mad Scientist Week – Test a weird theory about yourself or life. Take notes. Be your own experiment.
Mystic Bimbo Week – Do your birth chart. Pull tarot. Manifest in glitter ink. Be spiritual and sparkly.
Solo Date Enthusiast – Dress up and take yourself out. Café hop, museum stroll, pretend you’re the love of your life.
Messy Art School Energy – Paint something terrible. Journal in colors. Feel your feelings loudly. Bonus: wear overalls.
2014 Tumblr Revival – Bring back angst. Arctic Monkeys, low-quality selfies, sad girl core. Reclaim your inner misunderstood teen.
Mentally Stable (Kinda) Era – Stretch, hydrate, make your bed. Be a healthy girlie… for once.
Investigator of Vibes – People-watch. Journal your observations. Become a detective of human weirdness.
Grandma Core – Bake banana bread, knit, drink tea at 7pm, read in bed.
Pocket Philosopher – Read deep books, overthink elegantly, ask big questions. Talk like you’ve read Proust (even if you haven’t).
Tourist in Your Own City – Explore like a wide-eyed traveller. Try a new spot every day. Take blurry aesthetic pics.
Build-A-Baddie Bootcamp – Wake up early, meal prep, clean your space, romanticize discipline. Glow up, but gently.
Remember, these are just certain things you can inculcate into your routine for a particular theme, you don’t have to abandon your life for this, almost like sprinkling some edible glitter in your lemonade (?)
Thank you sm for reading, can’t believe we’re a fam of 40K+ people 💗

I’m new to this platform and enjoyed reading this post. I just love this concept. I tend to do focused projects over 30 days but I know my community struggle with consistency over a long period of time - I may introduce this as a week long focus on a project of their choice. Thanks for this post - the idea is genius! 💖
Really really love this!! you put into words what i have been doing this last two weeks or so, i live in a small village with little to no friends and nothing to do so i've been doing this!! last week i have been in my "magical bimbo era" and this one hot summer going everyday swimming or tanning.
